Athas is unlike tradinal fantasy settings and dosent have some of classes, while others are drasticly differant, listed below are the classes you may select for your charater. In order to help players create their charaters I have enclouded links to SRD, A page that has all rules for creating most charaters. You can also use this site to select feats, skills and powers. The SRD page does not contain Dark Sun specfic infromation or rules. You can access the Dark Sun Players Handbook in pdf fromat HERE for information regarding charater building. I how ever have done my best to give all importand information with in. Check out the Dark Sun Players book for roleplaying and other dark sun specific flavor text.

Barabrian:
In a savage world like Athas, is only natural that some of its inhabitants have turned into barbarians. They are fierce combatants without the army training fighters receive or wild rangers without the hunting skills. The barbarian class is unchanged from the PHB.

Bards
On Athas are a bit different from bards of other worlds. While bards are entertainers on Athas, as on other worlds, Athasian bards are also have the dubious reputation of being assassins. Bards have a working knowledge of poisons and are often hired by patricians and others as spies, assassins, or theives. At this, they excel.

Cleric:
In a world without gods, spiritualism on Athas has unlocked the secrets of the raw forces of which the very planet is comprised: earth, air, fire, and water. However, other forces exist which seek to supplant them and rise to ascendancy in their place. These forces have taken up battle against the elements of creation on the element’s own ground in the form of entropic perversions of the elements themselves: magma, rain, silt and sun.
Druids on this dying world take on an even more important role. As defenders of what remains of the world's balance, druids are a bit different than those of other campaign worlds.

Fighter:
Like fighters of other worlds, fighters of Athas are your basic combat unit. There are a few differences, however, as no one on Athas can rise to prominence without some consequence.
    Gladiator:
Gladiators are among the best one–on–one fighters in all the Tablelands. They are trained in hand–to–hand combat before moving on to the use of exotic weapons of the arena. They learn to improvise weapons, wielding broken bones or wooden shafts with deadly precision. They learn how to taunt and tease opponents, driving them to reckless acts and taking advantage of the situation to strike down or maim a foe..

    Monk:
Very rare on Athas and all hailing from the distant monestary in the city of Nibenay, monks are unchanged from the PHB.

    Rogue:
Rogues are unchanged from the PHB.

    Wilder
For most wilders, psionic power is not a choice, but a discovery. Some wilders discovered their mental powers in childhood or puberty. While psions train in the academies to harness their abilities, wilders tend to
discover their powers accidentally and without training. Most wilders never work to harness their powers, lacking the time, inclination or will to further their training. Low  level wilders often think of their power as a handy “gift” or “knack”, rather than a trait that defines them. Generally, only the more focused and powerful will actually identify themselves as “wilders”.

    Wizard
Seen by the populace at large as the cause of Athas' devestation, wizards on Athas draw upon the life-energy of plants to fuel their spells. Those who control this intake are called "Preservers" and they do not damage the environment. "Defilers," on the other hand, do not care about the environment and suck as much life as they can from their surroundings. The sorcerer-kings of Athas are defilers of the highest order and do not like competition within their borders. Luckily for them, they do not have to enforce anything: defiler or preserver, wizards are the most hated thing on Athas.
